Supplies
- A 6” wooden embroidery hoop
- Linen or cotton fabric, cut to 9” square
- Embroidery floss in greens, blush, cream and gold
- An embroidery needle and small scissors
- A water-soluble fabric pen

The five stitches
- Back stitch for the wreath’s vine
- Lazy daisy for leaves
- Woven wheel for roses: five spokes, then weave over and under
- French knots for tiny buds
- Satin stitch for small filled petals
Stitch the wreath
Trace a 4” circle in the center of your fabric. Back stitch the vine, then add leaves every half inch along the circle. Place 3 woven-wheel roses around the wreath, clusters of French knots between them and a few satin-stitch petals to fill any gaps.
Finish the hoop
Trim the fabric to 1” beyond the hoop, run a gathering stitch around the edge and pull it tight at the back. Glue a felt circle over the back for a clean finish.
